Richard M. Sand began his association with The Protocol Red Book™ when as president of USA Protocol, Inc., he met with The Protocol Red Book author, Pauline Innis. Two years later, he had assumed the role of co-author of the The Protocol Red Book and in 2002 released its 25th Anniversary Edition, which has sold tens of thousands of copies around the world. He has authored and edited numerous articles on protocol and diplomacy and has participated in hundreds of TV, radio and print interviews regarding The Protocol Red Book™.

Mr. Sand has been a political advisor and practicing attorney, specializing in representing governmental entities, both nationally and internationally for more than forty years. He represented The Philadelphia Regional Port Authority for almost two decades, interfacing with national and international governmental and business entities. He used innovative hi-tech techniques for event planning and supervision and coordinated security initiatives involving The United States Navy and Coast Guard, The United States Department of Homeland Security, The Pennsylvania Department of Homeland Security, the Philadelphia Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police. He coordinated numerous joint civilian and military programs with The United States Army and representatives of the Israeli military. Mr. Sand organized and supervised hundreds of events, including for President William Clinton, Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge, and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas in addition to numerous US senators and congressmen. He coordinated logistics, security, and compliance with state and federal reporting requirements and was liaison for numerous events involving foreign dignitaries.

Mr. Sand served on transition teams for 2 Pennsylvania governors. He was a member of the Labor and Industry transition team under Pa. Governor Edward Rendell and a member of the Education transition team for Pa. Governor Thomas Corbett. He is a Corbett appointee to The Pennsylvania Historic and Museum Commission and was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.

Mr. Sand was an Assistant and Deputy Attorney General and is actively involved in educational and cultural organizations, such as the Boards of the Chilean American Chamber of Commerce and The Haym Solomon Society. He is president of The International Martial Arts Federation and is a member of the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. Mr. Sand has been honored with a Pennsylvania Senate Citation and The Ben Franklin Award.

Mr. Sand is an award winning author of a dozen books, both fiction and historical and is a professor at Philadelphia University. He is a speechwriter for public officials, political candidates, and other public personages. He is a member of the Author?s Guild of America. He is a graduate of Temple University and New York University Law School. Mr. Sand is married, has four children and lives in Laverock, Pa, just outside of Philadelphia.
